I'm not too worried about having or not having a costume for PAX coming up in two months. Partially because I've been off my antidepressants and I don't feel inspired to do anything and partially because I have alot to worry about as far as finding a job for the summer and bringing my GPA up in school. However, I think that I am going to try to be as casual and relaxed about making my Alice costume as I can because otherwise I am going to hate the process and it is going to completely turn me off from sewing.
I have found a free pattern online for a fifties couture dress that will work well for my Alice dress. The dress is sleeveless but I don't think it will be too hard to sew on puffy sleeves. I haven't even looked for an apron pattern yet, because I think that once I sew the dress the apron shouldn't be terribly hard to figure out.
Here is the dress that I am using as a guide for the alice dress and a link to the pdf of the pattern and instructions:And here are some links that I found to give me an idea of how to create the sleeves:
For the Miranda Costume, I am thinking that I might just have to make it with either a pleatheryish white fabric or some other alternative fabric. I guess realism for that one shouldn't be that big of a priority seeing as how I have never made a costume at all before, it won't be perfect.
